Harold J Ashford, CPA
Founder & partner
Harold graduated from Oregon State University in 1972 with a degree in Accounting, and has lived in Central Oregon since 1977. He has been in private practice for over 40 years and has been an owner of his own accounting firm for almost 30 years. Harold is married to Peggy, also an OSU graduate, and he has two daughters.
Harold's history of community service is extensive and includes; Deschutes County RFPD #2 Fire Board, South Valley Bank & Trust Board of Directors, Central Oregon Youth Investment Foundation, St. Charles Hospital Board, Deschutes County Forest Authority as well as a number of professional organizations in the accounting field. Harold also served on the Board of J Bar J Youth Services and as a Trustee on for Oregon State University Foundation. As a Trustee of the Foundation, he has served as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committees, Executive Committee and the Foundations’ liaison to OSU Cascades. Harold was awarded the OSU Alumni Association Dan Poling award for his outstanding service to OSU.
In his spare time he enjoys bird hunting, fishing, golfing and hiking the mountain trails around Central Oregon. In the fall you can find him at Oregon State University football games tailgating with his family.
Katie Ashford, CPA
Katie graduated from Linfield College and earned her Certified Public Accountant license in 2010. She worked for Harold Ashford & Associates in Bend for almost 9 years before moving to Portland in 2013 to gain more experience working in a larger firm. After 3 years, Katie and her husband decided they missed their hometown of Bend and moved back to join the accounting firm as a partner in July 2016.
Katie’s tax and accounting experience includes areas such as construction, professional services, start-ups, real estate, medical and agriculture with a specialty in horse farms. She prides herself on working with clients on a personable level. She feels forming relationships with clients isn’t just about the numbers, it is about the people behind the numbers.
Mentoring and working with emerging accountants as they begin their career paths is very important to Katie. As a member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, she has volunteered her time by serving on the Career Development Strategic Committee for several years which focuses on promoting accounting as a profession to high school and college students. Katie is the 2019-2020 chair of the OSCPA Taxation Strategic Committee. She was an advisor for the 2014 AICPA Western Regional Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop, a mentor for a new AICPA pilot program for online mentoring, a scholarship application reviewer for 2014, 2015, 2016 and coach for 2014 AICPA Legacy Scholarship Program.
In her spare time she enjoys riding Morgan horses, exercising at the local Barre 3 studio, Yoga, spending time with her family, husband and their Labradoodle. Come football season her house is divided as her husband, Brad is an Oregon graduate and Duck Fan. She is an avid Oregon State fan. Let's just say it makes life interesting in the fall!
Christina was raised in Fallon, Nevada and graduated from Colorado State University. She is currently completing her MBA through the University of Nebraska. Christina first came to Central Oregon in 2011 and worked as a Relationship Manager for a NW Farm Credit Service specializing in agriculture lending. In 2014, she was promoted to Branch Manager in Central Point. In 2016, she returned to Central Oregon to become a VP Commercial Banking officer for a commercial and agriculture lending team with a local community bank.
In 2017, Christina joined the firm of Ashford & Associates, LLP to pursue a future as a Certified Public Accountant with the firm and is currently sitting for the exam. She hopes to provide accounting and tax services to local farmers and ranchers as her specialty.
Christina stays active in Central Oregon community with rotary, FFA and 4-H activities as well a board member for ConnectW (Business Networking for Women).
Her hobbies include training and showing reining and cow horses, trail riding and tooling leather. She also enjoys helping her boyfriend Kyle, work on his Toyota rock crawlers and testing them up in the hills.
Casey graduated in 2013 from Western Washington University with BA’s in Accounting and Financial Economics. He spent his younger years in Seattle and Bellingham. Casey joined Ashford & Associates, LLP in August of 2018 and lives in Bend with his significant other, Laura and their Corgi named Muffin. Casey earned his CPA license in 2015. He has worked with international tax teams, small business owners and high net worth individuals in tech and sales. He can provide invaluable accounting services to current and prospective clients.
His free time is spent at local dog parks or somewhere along the ale trail. He stays active with weight lifting and the occasional yoga session. You can also find him biking his way to work and around town.
Brad, a Bend native, graduated from Mt. View High School and went on to receive his degree in Sociology from the University of Oregon in 2010. Brad worked in the retail and private sectors for several years before joining the team in 2018. He works primarily with accounting for start-ups and enjoys the diversity that it brings.
When is isn’t in the office, he loves spending time with his dog and wife. In the summer you will find him golfing, riding his bike or fighting with the irrigation on his property in Tumalo. He is a loyal Ducks fan and watches every football game he can in the Fall.
Toni was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. She moved to San Jose, CA in 1970 where she lived for more than 30 years, raising her children and working for a local CPA firm. In 2006 her daughter and family moved to Bend, OR and Toni followed in 2007.
Toni joined Ashford & Associates, LLP in February 2011.
Billing & Accounts Receivable
Peggy graduated from Oregon State University in 1972 with a degree in Child Development & Family Life. She has been married to Harold for over 40 years and is a 4th generation Oregonian. She has spent her time raising their two daughters and volunteering in community service. Over the last 27 years you would find her showing Morgan horses, working with 4-H youth as a leader or working as a State 4-H Judge. In the past she has served on the Morgan Horse Association of Oregon Board, J Bar J Youth Services Board, Deschutes County 4-H Leaders Association Board, Broken Top Community Association and Oregon State University 4-H Foundation Board.
Peggy works in the office with Time & Billing and the e-filing of tax returns. You will also find her at Aspen Academy Preschool working as an assistant teacher. In her spare time she enjoys taking care of their myriad of animals on their small acreage out in Tumalo. Like Harold, she enjoys Oregon State University Football games, working with their bird dogs, fishing, hiking and golfing. If time allows, she enjoys riding one of their two Morgan horses.
